Well, I have completely lost the battle. I am having one major ass whooping from the crude. I am sitting here in a sea of tissues, drowning in my chicken ramen (l love ramen when I'm sick) and drinking lemon water~ both hot and cold. My lips are burning they are so dry and I think my head is going to explode.

As soon as I finish grading my tests, I'm off to bed.

*sniffle* I hope I get over these so I can enjoy Estrella!!

Day with the girls!!

So yesterday I had a full day with a couple girls from work and some grade school friends.

I was picked up at 11:40 and we headed down to Gig Harbor for some shopping. I was way out of my tax bracket. Ann Taylor, J. Jill, Chico, way out of my element. Then we went to the Twilight movie. There were 6 of us total at the movie. This was my second time seeing it (even though I don't really care for it). We hung at Panera Bread chatting for a bit.

We went and had dinner at El Goucho in Tacoma. Again out of my typical price range but it is a girls night right? The food was amazing!! (also amazingly expensive) I had a Flirtini martini (super yummy), a baked potato, and a flaming sword of tenderloin. This was the least expensive beef item on the menu. They have steaks over $100!!! I made it out of there after tax and time for $55. (mine was the smallest bill out of all the girls) Then off to the concert!!

SO, New Kids on the Block as my first band that I really liked. I had the dolls, bedspread, posters, buttons, tapes, movies, all the above. When a girl at work said they were coming to Tacoma and wanted to know if I wanted to go I was like 'sure!". I am so glad I went. They put on a great concert. They sang songs from their new album and "classics" from 15 years ago. The dome was packed with 20 somethings and up, but had you been just listening, we were all screaming like teenage girls. They sang for 2 hours and we danced the whole time!! I got home about 1 am. It was all worth it.

I had never been to a concernt with my girlfriends. The last concert I went to was Prince with Talon. I'm not a huge fan of Prince, but Talon is. Prince is an amazing artist and I really respect his talent. This was my girls night and it was a much needed estrogen fix. It was absolutely wonderful to be 12 again. :)

So I guess i'm off the hook for babysitting today. So much for getting up at 6:30 this morning!! *sigh* but the most awesomeness part is that Talon is taking the afternoon off so we can spend time together before I turn back into teacher/union girl. :) I love my husband!!

So yesteday was my first unofficial day back. I stopped by my favorite coffee joint and grabed a coffee on my way in. I very friendly guy wanted to know how I was going to drink my coffee on the scooter. I smiled and told him about my cup holder. What a gret accessory!! Scheduling was a bit challenging as they were dhanging the master schedule as we were writing the schedules. My 6th period class is HUGE! With some challenging kids and personailties...

Then I was asked to be part of an "administrative audit" this is conducted by the superintendants association. There was about 15 of us that responded to a variety of questions. I'm sure it was a coensidence, but many of the questions focused on issues brought up by our recent climent survey. hmmm.

My classroom. It is awesome!! I can't wait to just go hang out in there!!! With a little bribery, the custodians painted it a beautiful lavendar. Then my really great friends Eliza and brighidross came to my classroom last night and put up 3 bulletin boards and all my posters! We had Olive Garden for dinner and a really great night.

I'm babysitting today again so I am just waiting for the cherub to arrive. Tonight we are getting ready for the rummage and having people over for an end of summer grill out. Should be a great day!!

It's only Tuesday....

Monday: Tried cleaning some of the house, went to the teacher store to get new classroom posters and borders. Then I went to the dentist and had a filling and an in-lay. I was pretty miserable most of the night. Talon took me to Azteca for what he respectfully calls "Sock Water Soup" but it is my most favorite meal ever! Then I lounged in my numb state the rest of the night

Tuesday: I babysat for a friend of mine who is in new teacher meetings. She is a great 2 year old and ran around town with me. We bought paint for my classroom (that should now be purple), went to Jo-Ann's, a new teacher lunchon to plug the union, went home, delivered a battery charger to Talon, went back home, watched "Little Mermaid" 1.5 times. I am tired. I have so much more respect for parents. I already recognized the work they do, but damn. I can't count how many times I picked up my DVD's. Now to fight practice.

Tomorrow: I will be hand scheduling about 100 students. I am skipping out on some training since schedules are a bit more important. Then I will be setting up my classroom. I am so not ready for summer to end and to head back to work.

This week I have to finish preping for the rummage and any other summer stuff I need to do. Back to work on Monday.

Autumn War

The event was awesome!!

Friday night we left and the drive was mostly boring. That is until we were about 100 yards from the gate. We got a flat tire. (stupid gravel road!!) We pulled over, I walked the dogs while Talon started changing the tire. He removed the spare from under the truck, jacked up the truck, then removed the flat, and then shit, The truck isn't high enough to get the new tire on. SO we put the flat back on driv e forward and try again. Take 2, nope, still didn't work we are still too far over. SO we pull forward again and are pretty much in the middle of the road. We ended up using wood blocks to hold up the truck while we put more wood blocks under the jack. An hour and a half later we finally leave for gate. I have to say I am fairly amazed how few people stopped or just asked if we needed anything. Some did, (mostly our friends) but there were SO many that drove by and couldn't care less. We were desparate for bug spray as we were getting eaten alive. Talon ended up wearing my hoodie to protect his head. We had a good night chatting with friends and eating their dinner left overs.

Saturday, me and 2 other girls in my camp we participated in siege cooking and had a blast. We made 5 dishes and felt we did pretty good. We didn't win, but we had fun. We made a shepards pie, fried rice, rice pudding, salad, and a soup.

Sunday Talon and I went to watch a thrown weapons tourney which was super fun. Then Wlfraven helped me shoot archery!! I have never shot before and wanted to give it a try. I even hit the target once!! Now I can't wait until the picnic this weekend to try again. :)

Now I need to clean out the truck, get the tire fixed, go to the chiropractor, and talk with some businesses about sponsoring our 3-day walk.

So Quad War was awesome! Talon and I had some great adventures there and back and we had a super time while we were there. We stayed in Cranbrook on the way there at the Crazy Bear Inn. Clean room but the dogs were confused. I took some really great classes at the event on black work and scribal whoops and 101. I am really excited to learn about scribal stuff and wasn't planning on taking classes but Inga was teaching!! How cool!! I got to hang out with some really cool people and relax! It was odd not to have a job or work to do. I napped a lot. It was weird.

On our way back from Canada land Talon dropped me off on Lynnwood at a union meeting. We had our annual leadership academy. It was nice building relationships with teachers from my district. The class was OK but there were some really annoying people there. I am amazed at how people like to listen to themselves talk. I did get a couple cute shirts though, and one was free!!

Now I need to pack for autumn war...

Yep, it's official! I passed my riding test today after 2 full days at beginner motorcycle riding class!! I have a super red nose to prove it!!

I got a 100% on the written part and 95% on the riding part. I was doing really well, until the final task, 135 degree turn and I didn't know what cones I needed to be in. This was the only part we didn't practice right before hand. *sigh* I couldn't be perfect......

The instructors were awesome! One even gave me his orange sunglasses that match my bike!! I am so much more comfortable on my scooter now I am ready for some wicked traffic and scoot scooting around Silverdale and Bremerton. :) Now I just need to go get my olfficial license.... after my nose is less red and on a good hair day!

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

So I will start this rant with a positive. That is what I learned, alswys start on a positive.

Great Happyness!! SO last night at new comers night I met some neat new people and I hope they join us in the fun. A girl named Wendy was really fun to chat with. There were a lot of snackies and just a great turn out. But the highlight? I have to say I have the most amazing, kind, giving friends. Rebecca_of_DL handed me a present wrapped in purple Care Bear paper. (enter squeel one here) Then when I opened it I found the most amazing pink hoodie with "Brandi" on the front and the back has a snowflake with the breast cancer ribbon in the center. Above that says "Snowflakes" and the year "2008" below. This is for Talon and mine 3-day brast cancer walk!! Snowflakes is our team name. (enter squeel 2-100 here) It was so unexpected and thoughtful, I am still speechless and touched by this gift. I wore it proudly all day today and will use it tomorrow to be a "pink lady".

Great suckyness~ So today I ran to Costco to get ice cream bars for my math class and homeroom. As I went up the hill I noticed my car sounding funny and pulling funny. I get into the parking lot and yep, a pancake flat tire. fuck. I can hear the hiss of the last bit of air leaving the tire. I go inside, eat lunch as it was a potluck I was hosting for the school. By the time I get back to my room an e-mail has been sent about the tire. I respond and claim it. I also say that I have variety show practice so I was stuck at school until 6 fand if anyone wanted to have a life lesson with their class or homeroom I'd appreciate it. Did anyone volunteer to help? FUCK NO!!!!!! Not one fucking person said "oh, you are going to be there till 6 helping kids? Let me help you and take 20 min. to change your tire." SO after practice, the other girl teachers and I were discussing how disfunctional our school is and a couple students came over, found out what was going on and volunteered to change my tire and said "i'm a boyscout, that's what I do" (NOTE: there is an eagle scout on my staff.....) SO i give over my keys as he grabs a friend and head to my car. They were very impressed by the sword in my trunk and sheep skins. I am not a samari dog to the kids. Oh and did I say I met these kids TODAY!!!! They didn't know who I was until today, and today I was the one yelling at them to dance more, talk faster, and to quit showing their butts to the audience. Well, they got all the tools out and were doing well until they went to put the donut on and the car fell. At that point I started crying. I was so scared these kids would get hurt and why can't people I work with be nice and help!?!?! It took 15 yr. olds to be my hero today. SO in the end they got the donut on and I made it to Costco. I bought 4 new tires (that is another story but I'll spare you)

I just would like to know why there are no nice people at my work? If it were SCA, I wouldn't have even had to ask someone for help or to do it for me. But here? I had to get 2 students. I work with a bunch of jerkface fucksticks.

Now I need to get to bed as I have to be at work at 6 tomorrow and help get ready for the fresman breakfast. I can't wait to be done with school!!!!!

What a day!!!

Where do I start?

Recycling: So my recycling kids have recycled over 1,800 bottles/cans in the last month!! Holy cow!! Who would have thought they would be that awesome!! So I got a call this morning from the paper and a reporter with a camera will be at my school tomorrow at 7:30 to interview and take pictures of my super awesome kids! I had to call and get permission from all the parents (which I did) and they will be in the paper now!! I even have a kid that is suppose to be at a retirement party and his Mom is going to pick him up after 1st period so he can be in the paper!!! I can barely contain my excitement!!

School Principal: So we have been having a long drawn out fight with the district about our principal next year. In the end after weeks and weeks of arguing with each other and the district, and running 2 sets of interviews (count up those sub days!) The district is going to do what we originally asked for!! Why could they not see the brilliance of us union peeps? So we have 2 principals next year- re-tire/re-hires and then next January we get to post and hire!! Horray!!

Target: So I bought new trash cans for the recycling group next year. My amazing principal gave me her credit card and said not to max it out. (I hate it that I'm frugal!!) I bought the cans and a personal purchase. I was a dork and threw away the wrong recipt!! So, I went to Target and begged for a new recipt. This amazing Liz girl found it and printed a new one! Yay for technology and nice people!!!

The Dogs: So I got home to find Talon all but gagging and checking on Kurgan. To say the least, he made a HUGE mess in his kennel with stuff. Talon has a very weak stomach when it comes to that stuff. So Talon took the door off the hinges and we carried the kennel outside and I sprayed it with the hose and he mowed our jungle down. I bathed the "stuff" covered dog with a yummy grape smelling soap. Talon made the yard look beautiful and hung the door again then fixed the hole the dogs made in the mud room. They have a taste for dry wall and insulation so they could not be in the mud room all week!! (stupid dogs)

Girls night: So tonight was girls night and I made turkey noodle soup and hung out with some of my favorite people. :)

So off to bed soon to get some beauty sleep!

June Faire

So I had a totally great weekend!!

Thursday: Went to site to help set up. I wasn't really needed. Most of the set up was done during the day and people with actual jobs had stuff to do. There really wasn't a need for bodies without a purpose. So note to self: unless I have a job, pack for me on Thursday of June Faire

Friday: I had a crappy day at work I flew to the mall for some quick therapy shopping (I had a coupon I had to use by the end of May) then I went home for speed packing. I had to pack my clothes, the cooler, dogs, list stuff, and some other little things. I had forgotten that I had left a couple boxes in my trunk, so it was a tight squeeze to site. Once on site i unloaded my car, got dressed, and started working! I loved helping at gate, and assisting brighid_ross.

Saturday: Talon and I woke early, got dressed and opened lists. I was very greatful to my friend Nidda for covering lists while I prepared for morning court. I spent the day running errands and helping where it was needed. I got some kid time with some great kids I know. Evening court was a bit long, but went great. Then we had a huge dinner in the DL encampment with a ton of great people, I can't even name them all!! And that evening.... Big P little p what begins with "P"? Protege, Protege, Protege P...P...P!!! It was such an honor and humbling experience, but Brighid_Ross took me as her protege!! I have so much to live up to, and I am so lucky to have her as my Pelican!! Let the adventures begin!!

Sunday: Woke up early ...again. I was super crabby when I woke up, I kicked Talon out of the tent for some "Jenae' time. I felt much better after that. I opened lists and had some super help by another lady in DL. We did a buy a life tourney for breast cancer and had great success!! I didn't think we would have that many people participate, but I was super overwhelmed. I ran out of ribbons and resorted to using the safety tape that was used for parking. Hey, it was pink! I relaxed the rest of the day and walked merchants with my hubby, then prepared for court. Being Sunday evening, I had some issues finding the correct scrolls, but all in all, it all worked out. We took down pavilions in record time, packed up our camp, and emptied the truck at storage.

All in all, the event went great. There were a few exciting moments, some oops moments, but in the end, it was successful. I had a great time. Thanks to all those that helped make it such a success.
